The International Side of CHASP

LBJ School Professors Carolyn Heinrich, David Warner, Jane Lincove, and Sam Richardson will share research they have done on health and social policy issues in other countries:

• Prof. Sam Richardson will present his work analyzing the effects of an ambitious health care pay-for-performance contract implemented in the United Kingdom in 2004, under which payments to providers are based on quality measures performance.
   
• Prof. Jane Lincove will be discussing her research on demand for schooling and policies to increase school enrollment in Sub-Saharan Africa, including Nigeria and Uganda, using EdData Surveys from USAID.
   
• Prof. David Warner plans to talk about his decade-plus of research into US-Mexico border health, Medicare portability for retirees in Mexico, and trade in health services, especially medical tourism.
  
  
• Prof. Carolyn Heinrich will discuss her research examining the impacts of a cash transfer program introduced in South Africa in 1998 to reduce poverty and protect children in poor families from poverty-related educational and behavioral risks. 

The colloquium is free and open to the public, but registration is requested for communication and catering purposes. Bring a lunch; we'll provide the coffee, dessert, and conversation!

Paid parking is available in the Manor Garage to the south of Sid Richardson Hall ($6 for 1-2 hours). A number of Capital Metro bus routes have stops on streets adjacent to the LBJ School, and bicycle racks are available on the east side of the building.
